The Melon Growers’ Harvest Festival was held on Sunday, July 30.
A record number of 37 melons were entered in the melon fair.
The winner this year was Mr. Nishimon with 1,531g.
The warm temperatures during spring and summer made for a very good harvest year.
After the fair, the cut melons were distributed to the visitors.
The children’s fair, shaved ice, yakitori (grilled chicken), frankfurters, and other booths were also very successful.
We received many comments from visitors that they would like to grow melons next year.
The 2024 seedling distribution event is scheduled for around April.
We will continue the activities of the melon-growing team in order to revitalize the shopping street and strengthen ties in the community.
